The
UMMen program to provide
Strength for Service devotion books
to our military personnel is an ongoing mission project.
Strength for Service is the
devotional written specifically for those in service of others. First
published in 1942,
the volume went out of print in the 1950s as armed forces personnel returned
home.
Fifty years later, Boy Scout Evan Hunsberger discovered his grandfather’s
well worn copy of the book
and made an Eagle Scout project out of seeing the volume republished. Today,
the revised book has been adopted as
a project by the United Methodist Men at the General Commission level. It
has been
distributed to over 400,000 service personnel of many denominations.
It is an approved project by the
Department of Defense and distributed through chaplains, commanders, and
others to our service personnel.
Your help is needed to share this inspiring devotional with thousands more.
Whether serving on the front lines
in Iraq/Afghanistan or caring for the wounded stateside, U.S. military
personnel around the world need Strength for Service.
For further
information, go to www.strengthforservice.org.
You may still donate to this important program. Your contributions at Faith will be forwarded to the
proper personnel
in Nashville to support the printing and distribution of this book. Our
church contributes generously, Won't you?
